Okay techies and people who love them, it’s time to get in touch with your inner weasel and plan your 2013 Cheese Weasel Day celebration. Remember April 3rd this year!

Get in Touch With You Inner Cheese Weasel

Help us tell the story of gratitude and cheesiness! Here are a few ways you can get involved:

Plan a party for your IT crew: Spread gratitude (and perhaps a little cheesiness) to all humanity. Introduce this fun Internet holiday that celebrates the IT people in our lives to the tech leaders you work with, consider having a Cheese Weasel Day celebration of your own this April 3rd.

Make sure you tell others about this fun way to show gratitude to the tech workers.

Remake the CWD song: Each year we try to add something new to this fun Internet holiday, do your own version of our Cheese Weasel Day song. So far we have the original song, a rap version, and a Blues version. Listen to them here. We need your creativity!
Write a Kid’s Book: Another idea, are you a creative writer? CWD isn’t really a kid’s day, but that doesn’t mean the story wouln’t make a good book! We’d love to have the Cheese Weasel Day children’s book. Make an illustrated kids book (pdf) that can become a part of the CWD tradition.
Write a Graphic Novel:  This might be wishful thinking, but surely there is among us someone who could make a graphic novel (PDF) about the Cheese Weasel. How did he get his powers? Who is his arch rival? Can he save the world from him?
Be sure to let us know of your plans so we can help tell others what you’re doing!

LifeWay’s Cheese Weasel Day Celebration!

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Lizette Beard, Project Manager at LifeWay Research shares how they celebrated Cheese Weasel Day today. See below from Lizette…

LifeWay has some of the best tech support around, so it was exciting to see the Cheese Weasel leave a few “thank you”s around the building! A few of the folks the Cheese Weasel stopped by to see before continuing on was

  • Our in-house “Help Desk” …because when you call to see if they can help speed up your computer, they never suggest that the problem could be that you’ve dropped it or that scotch-tape is holding part of the screen on…

  • Our development team  …who who make magic computer-y things appear out of thin air. For example, they did a GREAT job on www.churchplanterassessment.com (shameless plug for one of my projects)!

  • Our executive team tech support members who make sure the “big cheeses” have great technology support…(see what I did there…big cheese…cheese weasel day…)
  • Our LifeWay.com team…getting the word out online about the good stuff happening here @LifeWay and in the churches we serve….

  • And creative artsy techy types who make magic happen on blogs across the company!

Cisco’s Tangent Tue: Cheese Weasel Day

Tangent Tue: Cheese Weasel Day

Thanks to the folks at Cisco Communities for the Cheese Weasel Day post! And thanks to them for all they do to keep the tech world going! Here’s what they posted on their site today

Anyone heard of Cheese Weasel Day? (I had no idea what this was myself until recently…apparently I am becoming more of a geek every day!)

Cheese Weasel Day was the very first internet holiday, established to celebrate techie professionals in a funny way. (We have 1 or 2 of those around here?) So, happy Cheese Weasel Day from some of the longest standing weasels in the business :)

Happy Cheese Weasel Day 2012!

The Cheese Weasel Came!

It’s finally here, Cheese Weasel Day 2012!

This year has already been a good one, people are posting pictures of the cheesy goodness the Cheese Weasel left them underneath their mouse pads.

The CW leaves cheese to good techies, so if he visited you, you are to be congratulated (not to mention thanked) for all you do to help people! If you were visited by the CW, post your picture and tag it with #cheeseweaselday We’ll do our best to RT and share your good fortune with others!

This year we would also like to say thanks to the corporations who have chosen to participate in Cheese Weasel Day and say thanks to their techies! So often in  companies techies never hear from people until they are unhappy or having a problem. CWD is a time to build relationships between staff and IT. It’s a good way to show your company recognizes the contributions of the people who keep things running behind the scenes.

Also, there is something to be said for companies who don’t take themselves so seriously that they can’t have a little fun! Here are some companies who let us know they are down with the Cheese Weasel Day festivities.

Let us know if your company participated, we’d like to give you a shout out!

Cheese Weasel Day 2012 is Next Tuesday!

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

So,  here we are again ramping up for another festive season of Cheese Weasel Day. This year we want to ask you to do something big for CWD. Do you know anyone who can help us spread the news about CWD? With all the support we’ve gotten over the years we know there are our the faithful few who “gird their curds” each year and spread their gratitude with others. Take for example some new art (right) that was posted last year by PsychoAngel51402

We are so thankful for those who are keeping the holiday alive. But ask not what the Cheese Weasel can do for you, ask what you can do for the Cheese Weasel. Is there someone out there you know who can help us spread the word?  Please tell them about CWD before April 3rd. Every year we hear people say, “Man, I wish I knew about this earlier, I could have helped”

Okay, here’s your one month notice! Tell someone today about CWD and ask if they’d help spread the word. Even if you just post a blog it can help us raise awareness! Follow us on Twitter @CheeseWeaselDay and give us a shout out about what you’re doing.

What is Cheese Weasel Day You Ask?

April 3rd is Cheese Weasel Day (CWD) and is the only Internet holiday. A quick web search shows CWD started around 1993. CWD is traditionally celebrated as a fun day dedicated to appreciating people who work in the tech industry.  Legend has it (and the internet has many legends) that the Cheese Weasel travels the world on April 3rd, leaving a bit of cheese under keyboards or mouse pads of good techie boys and girls

Here are a few ways you can celebrate Cheese Weasel Day 2012:

  • Arrange secretly for a slice of cheese to be placed under the mouse pad of a tech person you know and appreciate.
  • Plan a Cheese Weasel Day party with all the trimmings.  Melt fondue, make grilled cheese sandwiches, eat nachos, anything cheesy works.
  • Send a link to the Cheese Weasel Song and learn it so you can use it at your own CWD celebration.
  • Give your favorite tech person a Thank You shout out on Twitter using the hash tags #cheeseweaselday

They make your email work again. They fix your computer when it crashes. They politely answer technical questions they have heard 100 times before. And now there is an official holiday just for the technical people who make your life easier.

It’s Cheese Weasel Day Today!

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

The day is finally here, it’s Cheese Weasel Day!

It doesn’t cost anything to say thanks to your favorite technical worker. But if you have any cheese in the house you can use it to express your “grate-fulness” to them too.

Got any cheese in the house? Use it creatively to say thanks!

If you are looking for ideas for your CWD celebration, we have a few listed below!

For folks who are in the OKC area we have a CWD Reception. We’d love to see you there! But, no matter where you are, you can make your own CWD fun!

Here is how you can celebrate:

  1. Give your favorite tech person a Thank You shout out using #cheeseweaselday or #cwd on Twitter
  2. Send someone you know in the tech sector a Cheese Weasel Day Greeting card. Here are some Cheese Weasel Day E-cards
  3. Arrange secretly for a slice of cheese to be placed under the mouse pad of a tech person you know. [Check back in a few days to make sure they found the Cheese. Just to be sanitary. I mean, if they don't know about it and leave it there indefinitely, it could start to smell like Limburger.]
  4. Go here and learn the Cheese Weasel Song so you can sing it at your own Weasel celebration.
  5. Write a blog post. Help spread the word about Cheese Weasel Day by writing on your blog.
  6. Take a picture of your Cheese Weasel Day party and upload it on the CWD Facebook page
  7. Plan a Cheese Weasel Day party. It’s fun! A fondue party, make grilled cheese sandwiches, nachos, or Cheetos on the house!
  8. Get the official “Cheese Weasel Day” tee! Ferret out your bad fashion and gird your loins with the weasel. It’s the perfect thing to wear to a CWD party!

Only a few more hours until Cheese Weasel Day is officially here. Time to get in touch with your inner weasel and make plans to do something special for the techies in your lives. This year we have a lot of new free resources for you to use. Here are three ways you can share the joy of Cheese Weasel Day.

Get in Touch With You Inner Cheese Weasel

First, you can slip some cheese under the mouse pad of your friends. We have created Cheese Weasel Day print-and-fold cards. Just print them up, write a personal message, put in a slice of cheese, and slip it under their mouse pad.

Second send them the Cheese Weasel Song. You can go traditional, send a CWD Rap, or try this bluesy rendition on video. Pick one that suits their taste in cheesy music.

Third, don’t forget, we have Cheese Weasel T-Shirts if you want to send something more substantial.
